Have you ever had someone say to you, “Oh, Kiteboarding, isn’t that where the boat pulls you up in the air and you steer a parachute?” Instead of hanging your head in disgust, educate the clueless.

Inform them that the term itself simply means using a kite to pull you on a board, and Kiteboarding can lend itself to land boarding, snow kiting and of course, the water. And since the kite is a lifting force as well as a pulling force, you have a lighter sensation that allows you to launch huge aerial maneuvers never associated with other water sports! Don’t forget to mention that it can be easy for beginners to learn the sport with the proper instruction, yet extreme enough to make even the most hardened athlete skip a heartbeat or two.

All in all, we encourage you to come back with something like, “Picture wakeboarding, but replace the boat with a kite that the rider can control in every way and effortlessly jump 30 feet in the air or catch hundreds of waves in a blown-out day.” Then check out their reaction…

I often think about all those years I’ve spent cursing the winds and on-shore surf. As a keen surfer, this is something that has bugged me forever and a day. The other thing that bugs me is the amount of dudes on jet-ski’s mashing up our local breaks. Don’t get me wrong, I FULLY dig jet-skis. The more powerful and faster, the better. I’m all for towing-in, with the right partner driving the jet-ski.

What I’m REALLY into is Eco-Tow-Ins. Imagine this, pulling into huge bombies that you simply can’t paddle into, and would usually require a polluting jet-ski to gain access to. Imagine using mother nature, just as you do when dancing on water (aka: surfing), by leveraging off the WIND that usually shits you to tears!!! No pollution, access to waves that even a jet-ski cannot reach… are you with me?

This site is all about how, when and where to realise your Kite Surfing Dreams. We’ve got stories from PRO Kite Surfers that do nothing else but travel the world instructing others to make a buck, and pioneering hardcore, remote reef breaks in their spare time. Some of these case studies will blow your mind.
